20 Time Blog Post #5

Hi everyone!

It feels great to be back again.  Wow it has been a long time since I have had to post on my blog.  I am happy to let you know that even though I haven't posted anything in awhile that doesn't mean I haven't been working on my novel.  It is going excellently and I'm having so much enjoyment in creating this book of mine.  The most progress that I have made overall has probably been in the area of research.  That is what I have primarily been doing these past few weeks.  While it is fun to read and look up important pieces that I need for the book, as you learn something new each time, it is also a very daunting task.  I have been doing a large amount of it now so I do not get stuck when i write the later chapters when I do not have the right information I need, or when I feel something is missing.  I feel that its best to get it all out of the way as soon as possible and I think most authors would agree with me.  However, like I have said in my previous post, just because I have been doing research most of the time does not mean that I have been ignoring the actual writing portion of the novel. This will soon become my primary goal each week, to try to get as much writing done as possible.

The beginning of the novel  have been properly established in writing and I am pleased to report that it is turning out good so far.  One of the biggest issues I had in writing is that this part of the novel was slow for me to write.  I really wanted to just jump into the action, but it is extremely important that I lay the groundwork for this book.  I'm satisfied with the way that the beginning turned out and am super excited to be able to start writing on what I consider the fun stuff.  As promised in the last blog post, what follows is a summary of our main character.

Keith Lawrence was tall for his age, with short auburn hair and brown eyes.  His face was slightly scarred by pimples he had left unchecked for too long.  He was 18 years old and had just graduated from high school.  This was his last summer before he would head off to Stanford University in order to become a lawyer, and work at his father's firm, Paul J. Lawrence, Attorney at Law.  His family lived in San Francisco, in a somewhat luxurious home that had a marvelous view of the Pacific Ocean.

This is actually the first paragraph of the book, minus the prologue of course.   I hope you enjoy it and I am looking forward to some feedback on my writing.  Next week i will provide on how
The Third World War will start. Not in real life of course. ;)

See you all again in the next blog post!
